Nothing drives me crazier than understanding what all the different people I work with think a strategy is. Not because anyone’s being difficult, and not because I don’t want to write one. It’s just that everyone has a completely different idea of what a strategy is - it’s never been definitely pinpointed 😱Now, whenever I’m writing strategy, I check what the recipient of it is expecting to see within it so they’re not horribly sad when they’re presented with my version. That said, you have to start with a basis, and this is mine!What is/isn’t a social media or content strategy to you?

Ahhhhh, Friday!Ever since I stopped working in retail at the age of 22, Fridays have remained sacred - the overjoyed feeling of a weekend stretching ahead never faded!Generally women over 30 aren’t “meant” to love going out on Friday’s, with staying in and staying cosy being made into the new age fashionable thing to say. That isn’t me, actually - I need people and occasion on a frequent basis. BUT, even I’ll admit that January ain’t the time for that, so I’ve gone all in on the cosy. For now.Tonight’s Friday checklist includes: ✅ Plum and vanilla gin

Goal-setting tips.Did you make goals for 2020? How are you doing with following your plan to get there?If the year feels like it's running away from your already and the goals you set yourself a few weeks ago feel icky rather than exciting, take a deep breath, go back to them, and give yourself a fighting chance at achievement.My top tips for setting inspiring social media and content goals for the year include: 💥 When you're deciding what goals you want to work towards, ensure they're SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-Bound. Make sure you have a way to track your progress, basically. You won't thank yourself for vague goals later on. 💥 After establishing what it is you want to achieve by the end of the year, break that down by quarters and then months into the smaller steps that will get you there. What are the smaller steps that build up to your big goal?
For example, if your goal is to hit 5000 Instagram followers by December 31st, you need to gain 1251 new followers per quarter, or 417 followers per month. 💥 Ok, so now you have your monthly KPIs worked out. How do they feel? Do-able? Or nerve-wracking? If you simply don't think you can do what's required, alter the goal to give yourself a fighting chance, and just as importantly don't feel guilty for it. This is the very definition of slaying in your own lane. 💥 Track like a bi-atch! With quarterly and monthly KPIs mapped out as above, all you need to do is run a quick report once a month and once a quarter to make sure you're on track, and pivot your plan if you need to. I’m a British Army WAG. The boyfriend is about to be deployed for the year.

I founded Heart and Soul Digital because I realised two things:1) However cushty it is to be able to work in social media, it still does pressure us, frustrate us and stretch us on the regular. Our brains are not quite built for this yet, nor indeed for the hours of computer work we need to put in to get good results. So I started building a community to recognise and support great digital marketers, with sustainable mental health at the fore.2) I needed really decent DIGITAL social media content planners for my client work when I went self-employed (not paper! As if anyone has the time to plot social media plans on paper just to have to put them in a calendar anyway to show a client! 🤯) but everything I bought or found was gash.
